Bringing hills down to her lawn
PANCHKULA: She spends most of her time in the woods. No, she doesn't travel to some forest area to spend time, but has in fact created the woods for herself.
Rajshree Sharda, a psychologist by profession and a resident of Sector 7 here, is busy spending quality time in her tree-house, surrounded by tall trees of the forest. She has converted her lawn into a "dense forest of Shimla" with tall trees like pine, firs, silver oaks, etc., and has also made a tree-house atop a tree, where she spends good amount of time, along with her friends and family.

"I and my husband Aditya were always fond of living in dense jungles, but since this is not practically possible, we thought why not convert our surroundings in Panchkula into forests and have a hilly look around," said Rajshree. "We have made a tree-house on a tree. In the morning, when you sit there with a cup of tea and birds chirping, you get a feel of the woods," she said. The tree-house has been created using quality timber and uses this "handy house" to party as well.
Rajshree has made the forest by planting fruit trees which grow only in the hills, like peaches, to get the full feel.
Having got the trees from Saharanpur, Aditya Sharda feels that the forest look gives a soothing atmosphere. "This kind of atmosphere is really soothing in summers. One gets the chilly feeling," said Aditya, who deals in wooden items. "We party quite often and my son Sidharth and daughter Vatsala call their friends and we all spend nice groovy time at the tree house. It is a deck kind of a thing at the tree," he added.
The Sharda family feels green should be the most important colour in summer. "I think it is just the green colour which gives you a feeling of freshness and something which is 'cooly'. I think it is this 'green' which is keeping all the human beings alive," said Sidharth. To add to the hilly looks, the family makes sure that they keep a continuous stream of water so as to keep the coolness throughout. So when everyone is booking their tickets for hill stations, this family seems to be already "living in the hills" 24x7.
